Database Administrator - TS/SCI. Reston, VA

Description:

• Plan and perform database installations, upgrades, deployments, migrations, and other maintenance activities as needed to support project objectives
• Owns all day-to-day administration and maintenance of Oracle 11g database including monitoring, patching, upgrades and configuration
• Perform database administration activities such as database creation, performance tuning, monitoring, backups/restore/recovery, database cloning.
• Work with the team to implement database policies, procedures and standards, and ensure their conformance.
• Provides technical guidance on integration, design and testing on production system database
• Assist application developers with database aspects of development (database object creation, SQL tuning, etc.)

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

• IT Professional with a BS degree in computer science and/or 5 years of DBA experience with Oracle
• Expert with RedHat Linux operating systems
• Experience in SQL, PL/SQL, and shell scripting
• Ability and desire to learn new technologies and techniques in Oracle and other database systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.) and work with the team to implement new solutions to improve productivity
• Must have active TS/SCI with willingness to upgrade to CI poly

Desired Skills:

• Experience working in Agile software development methodologies
• Experience with AWS and C2S cloud technology such as working with RDS and EC2 is a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently with little supervision
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn, retain, and apply new skills, and perform effectively under time pressure

Security Clearance: TS/SCI with CI Polygraph

Certification: DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliant certification required
